my brother just chrony'd his sako 75 finnlight 2506

heres a couple of factory loads we tested:

hornady 117gr btsp interloc; 2750 avge
winchester super x pe 120 gr; 2680 avge

these are 250-300 fps behind factory specs, so he was one unhappy fella.
this is nowhere near the calabers potential (closer to 257 roberts), so i'm wonderin' why the **** would sako put a 20" barrel on such an excellent medium to long range calaber?
would the extra 4" just be too much weight for this 'light weight' rifle?
the 4'' would probably improve the rifles balance and appearance too.
is there any way to get more velocity without going too light with the bullet??? HELP. (or changing barrels)
(we just started reloading, so allot is possable i suppose)

I'd go with 100gr. bullets. Yes, you are going to have to live with some amount of velocity loss compared to a 24" or 26" barrel.... just the way it is.

Having killed deer and hogs with my .257 Roberts and 100gr. bullets running about 2900fps, I have no complaints and would recommend it to anyone.

Good luck.
