Hey Guys,

What can you tell me about the CZ 550FS in 308 vs the Savage Weather Warrior in 308. Both rifle cost about the same. Which do yo think is a more accurate rifle and a better buy?

Thanks,

Geoff Massa

Both should be very reliable and accurate. I would pick the Savage as a hunting rifle, due to the stainless/synthetic combo. I'm also not a fan of wood going all the way to the muzzle.

The CZ 550 FS has a high fondle factor and definately satisfies the need for eye candy.

Mine is a 243 Winchester, same basic configuration as the 308 with the removable magazine. As for accuracy, the CZ, if like mine, will be a more accurate gun than you are a shooter. It's handy with the 20.25" barrel and well balanced. I had a scope on mine but took it off. I like it better the way it is because it is really well balanced. This has become my go-to gun here on the farm.

I made my choice last year and got the Savage. The dollar's weaker now, so I bet the CZ has gone up in price.

I wanted something real light for packing around up high. The stock is admittedly nothing to look at, but who wants to bang up a beautiful wood stock climbing over rocks?

I also picked up a 358 WIn barrel for my Savage, as swaping barrels is not difficult.

If I were to get a CZ, I'd want one in 9.3x62.

Here's the deal... Savages are relatively ugly, but shoot like no one's business. A CZ FS is drop-dead gorgeous, and shoots like no one's business.
....easy choice for me. Have the 550FS in the 6.5 and 9.3.

Ok,

I hate to throw a curve ball here, but I just saw the Tikka T3 Lite in Stainless Steel. The price is the same. How do you rate it against the Savage and CZ?

Thanks,

Geoff

tikka's are good rifles, they're made by sako, in fact their barrels come out of the same pile. buy what suits ya, any of the 3 should shoot but you do know that life is too short to hunt with an ugly rifle. don't you??

dakotaelkslayer, i think that everybody needs to read that over and over. i'm not a rifle snob by any means, just the same i don't want to hunt with a rifle that looks like it slid out of my butt an hour before i headed out of camp..... you know what i mean? i think you do.

I just aquired a cz 452 fs in .22lr. My vote is cz all the way. That little gun can shoot. Dime sized groups at 50 yards are the norm. I can even hit starlings and other simular sized targets out to 100 yards, I haven't tried further yet but the guns a shooter. Go get the cz.
