Would like feedback on this cartridge for Eastern whitetails (100-210#) in a bolt action. Expecially experiences with this cartridge and your choice of loads. I'll be using factory loads only. Shots will be -250yds and mostly in the open.
Thanks

Although a noob here on this site , I have hunted with and loaded for the 7mm-08 for almost 20 years. My preferred hunting load is a 140 gr. partition with a healthy dose of 4350. It will absolutely hammer a whitetail and not cause a lot of meat damage like some of the magnum calibers. I even use this load in my 15" barrel XP-100 with excellent results.

I use a 140 grain Nosler Ballistic tip in my 7mm rem mag. Although the 7-08 is a little slower it should work well. I don't get the explosive fragmentation that you would expect. I would say that a 160 or 175gr bullet whether SP or partition hits like the hammer of Thor. I would expect the same from the 7-08. You have a great caliber, start reloading and bring out its' full potential. I use IMR4320 or 4064 for .308 and 7mm rem mag. I have some old Winchester XP3 Supreme 175grain SP that are awesome. Good luck, Jim

I bought 2 bxs of Remington Premier 140gr Nosler Partitions and went to the range. I got her sighted in for 2"+ @ 100yds. At some point I want to run a bunch of ammo thru the barrel but for right now it looks good. Assuming the 140gr will do the job.

I shoot a .243 for deer. I have used a 55gn nosler with good results , your 140gn bullet will do the trick if you do your part. Same brass, different bullet just a little slower thats all.Q
