Welcome!
I was not aware that you did need a permit for a rifle.

Well I guess you do!

What a shame!
It seems they are legal. Good luck, Jim

thanks for your answer.. but
the thing is i don't see' em here at any city gun shops.. thus making me believe that they might not be legal.. and because one of the persons at the licensing division told me that all the guns that city gun shops have in their stores are legal. the absence of those ruger minis makes me believe that they are not. The info on that website is outdated the fee now to obtain a permit is $ 239

That info is from Feb 2006! I checked again, it is $55.00 for the permit or renewal (3 year) and $99.00 for fingerprinting ( one time). After you have the permit you can purchase. The NRA/ILA is on the forefront and I trust it. To bad my uncles are almost all dead, 3 were NYC cops. I'll contact my uncle Jack, he lives on the Island, but may know were to look further since he has always been a hunter and shooter.

Well I called, he suggests going to the local precinct. They will have all the info you need. What borough are you in? You can tell where I'm from from my Avatar. Good luck, Jim

well when i applied for the permit i had to pay 149 for the application and 99 for the fingerprints. i'm from queens.. i will probably check it out at the local precinct what they have to say.. but i'll wait till i get my permit... they told me that i can take from one month to six moths to get the permit.. but since i don't have any criminal record whatsoever i hope that it shouldn't take that long... thank for the info you've been very helpful

I would ask at the gun shop - they'll know what they can sell you or not...

:)
