Is there a diffrence between the standard 6.5/06 and the 6.5/06 A Square?

Or are they both the same thing?

Dale,
I believe they are one in the same. I have a 6.5-06 built on a Mauser action and use 25-06 brass to form cases. Great round.

Thank for the information, I to have a 6.5/06 ( standard ) on a HOWA Action and I used the Nosler 120 Ballistic Tip behind 53 grains of AR2209 also utilising 25/06 cases with very good effect

Dale,
The 6.5-06 basically started as the 256 Newton way back a long time ago, and wasn't a success. I actually ordered some correct head-stamped 6.5-06 brass a year or so ago, but the necks were too thick, or the brass too soft, or combo of both. I wasn't even able to get them through even the button expander without crushing cartridges. Ended up sending them back and reverting to the 25-06 cases.

I've settled on the 140 gr Nosler partition with very good results. Shot a cow elk behind the shoulder two years ago with these and it was a complete pass-through with fatal results.

My Shilen barreled Brazilian M1908 Mauser in 6.5-06 likes the Sierra 120 gr ProHunter bullets best of all.
