Does anyone here have any experience with the Vulcan .50 Caliber? Specifically I am interested in the model v50ss-200-1. A vendor near me in Georgia has this gun for approximately $1,700. I want this gun for long range target shooting. I really want the Barret single shot 50 but wife would have my hide if I spent $4,000 plus a scope on a rifle.
Thanks for the advice!

I have one of the Vulcan AR15s and have no complaint. The gun functions well and is reasonably accurate.

Welcome to the forum wribbs. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
I've no experience with the Vulcan. Keep in mind it takes pretty good optics to stay on one of the big 50's. Friends here shooting them have pretty good luck with Nightforce scopes.

Ditto the welcome and Bob's comment on scope ruggedness. The 50's subject optics to a severe recoil impulse.

Thanks for the replies. I would imagine with everything that's going on when a 50 goes off everything better be tightened down!!

wribbs, you need to check out the 50 caliber forum at biggerhammer.net, lots of info from owners of artillery in this caliber. I can tell you that all of them will tell you that Vulcan firearms are not to be trusted in the 50 cal world, poor workmanship, unsafe use of materials, etc. I have seen one and it looked pretty shoddy, I own a Serbu BFG-50 and am quite pleased with it.....Vulcan used to be known as Hesse a while back.......bad rep then too.
Do a search on Vucan/Hesse. They have a very, very bad reputation. I have dealt with other Vulcan and Hesse products and on some of them I honestly can't understand why they haven't been sued to bankruptsy, some of his stuff was just dangerous. Because Hesse had such a bad name it was changed to Vulcan but the firearms were still crap. They used to sell AK’s that were welded instead of riveted that were famous for cracking at the trunnions. Receivers that were never hardened so they would self destruct after less than a hundred rounds. My suggestion is to stay very far away from them, with there sloppy build practices I would be surprised if there would be any kind of accuracy.

Well that pretty much answers my question about the Vulcan. I think I'll wait until I can afford the Barrett. Thanks for everyone's reply.
