My wife was kind enough to make the leather pads for the Lead Sled I built. They turned out very nice. I filled the front one with sand, and the whole shooting rest is very stable and solid.
Now I just need to build a solid shooting table...

Pretty neat, now if you figure out an easy way to get those 25 lb. bags of lead shot to the range let me know.

No one has any bags of shot where I live, so I am going to try about 15 pounds of sand bags. Together, the sled and bags will weigh about 30 pounds. That should slow recoil some.
I will have to truck everything to the range, heh.

I don't load shotgun so was very surprised (shocked would be a better word) when I bought the first 25 lb. of shot...$30 and it took me a week to get over that before I could make myself buy the second bag. But as you say, 50 lbs. of lead and the weight of sled/rifle should let me put that egg between the sled and my should?? But we'll have to suffer together in getting it to the range. Me thinks I'll just leave it in the back of the pick-up in between range visits!

Don't look now, Dok, 'cause it's more than that here. About the best, and I mean best you can do is $35 for 25#

I'm way late in life in getting around to buying a 45-70 and need quality bench rest time to experiment with loads for the heavier bullets...and figured at 70 (in two weeks) I was old enough to swallow my pride and get the lead sled. And also old enough to pay for lead rather than medical remedies!!
