That's what a new acquaintence said when he pulled a dusty, original Trapdoor out of his car!
An 1885 made (Model 1884) Springfield Trapdoor carbine with all the original parts and in VERY good condition, except for the bore. Wear indicates heavy use in scabbard. According to owner, he got it from a friend many years ago. The friend was an old man in his 70's, early 1950's and served in the US Army before and during the Spanish American War. There is also an ammo pouch with ten 45-70 cartridges with 1894 headstamps. They appear to be steel cases with soft lead bullets.
I'm gonna clean it up for him but no changes, I think its worth to much to mess with. At least I've got a neat project for a few days! Gonna do a little research to see what I can learn about gun and old soldier.
