Hey Guys,

Just letting you know I have just purchased a Steyr Prohunter Stainless Synthetic in 7mm Remington Magnum. Gotta wait for 28 days before im actually able to pick it up though (australian laws). I have decided to put a Leupold VX II on my new toy. I will have to let you all know how it goes. Anyone have any opinions before I pick her up on the rifle and the cartridge. I am going to be using it on feral pigs, and hopefully the odd deer.

Congrats on the new purchase. Never owned a Steyr, but have heard good things about them.

Do happen to own a 7 RM in a Ruger M77 tang safety. Bought it new in 1972 and it has accounted for numerous deer and elk.

Bullet selection from 140 to 175 gr is good, with the 150's and 160's offering great accuracy with range carrying ability. Don't think you'll be undergunned or disappointed with your choice.

red,
I have the Steyr SBS synthetic stainless in 7mm-08, w/20" barrel. All I've shot thus far with it is a little 4-point mule deer, and paper. I honestly haven't spent much time with it, but it is a nice rifle to carry around the mountains; short and light.

Good luck, it's a nice rifle.
