If you think Gresham's an idiot, you might have missed the deliberate irony in his remark.

"what an idiot, makes me feel smart!!!"

THAT's the real irony, right there.

I heard him make that remark on his radio show several times. Big Dan, the point that Tom is making with that comment is that one has to be able to defend oneself and the crime is usually over by the time the police get there.

Let's keep it clean and civil guys. No need to attack one another over a little misunderstanding.

I beleive his remark was ment as Sarcasim, in order to show people that the Police are not at their instant Beck and Call.

It takes time for a Police vehicle to get somewhere, and by the time of arrival the incident is over.

As we were taught at the Acadamy, We were not there to provide personnal protection, that is the duty of hired Security personnel. Our job was to enforce the Law. If we observed something wrong, then we could take necessary action.
