Wasn't there just an article on the 25 or 250 pronghorn? It was a 25wsm. Not sure which mag but it was last months issue. I read it at the store, should have bought it I guess. I saw the magazine again. It was Gun World Sept 07 issue. They gave a few loads in there as well.

All I know is that Winchester looked hard at it, but didn't like what they were seeing with the pressure curves. That's why there's no factory .25 WSM.
They went with the .25 WSSM instead - and that round is almost dead due to the end of Model 70s. The few M-70s you see on shelves today are almost all in .25 WSSM - and they can hardly give them away, but that may be more to the quality of the last rifles to come out of the shop (after workers knew they were about to be fired) than the cartridge.
If I were working up .25 WSM loads, I'd look for cartridge cases with about the same case volume (water capacity) and start there. But it's not a task for a beginner or for a rush job.

Ronnie, I have had a 25-300 wsm for 3 yrs now, do you have excel? If you do I can email a spreadsheet that has my load workup and data on it.
Same old precaution all rifles are different, work up carefully. My rifle is a savage model 16 with a pacnor 24" polygonal rifle barrel.
I have tried RL22,RL25,H4831SC, IMR7828SSC, Ramshot Magnum, Hunter, H1000, Magpro and Retumbo. Retumbo Magnum and Magpro are my favorites.
Here is a sample of the data
Retumbo 63 117 Hornady SPBT 2.8 COL 3378 fps Fed215
Retumbo 62 115 Nosler Partition 2.8 COL WLRM primer
3 shots .5", .58"
Retumbo 66 100 Hornady SP 2.8 COL WLRM primer
3 shots .72"

Bluedot I don't know if I have excel or not I have a new dell C521 that my nephew bought and set up for me he is in the
business I barely can get by hard to teach old dogs new tricks sometimes.Retumbo is what I was planning on using the 1 loaded round he brought me has 67.5 grains of Retumbo in it according to the guy he had loading it but the fired case showed a very flat primer with some puddling looks too hot to me.He wants me to use the same primers the other guy did federal 215s so I'm in new win cases sized and trimmed fed 215 primers nosler 100 grain ballistic tips and will probably will start with your start load and work up to the max.His rifle is built on a mauser action and a 24 inch douglas barrel.I don't really like a ballistic tip bullets for anything but praire dogs and punching paper but this is what he likes.I've told him at these high velocities it will probably come apart so we will see.If you don't mind sharing your loading information I will be glad to give you my e-mail address and you can send it to me that way just let me know and I'll post it here if you want me to and thanks again Ronnie
