Nice anti-gun comic in a very underhanded way. Just enough to plant seeds in the minds of the fence sitters without being overly offensive. Propaganda at it's best.

If you read the whole thing, it isn't anti-gun at all. It pretty much debunks most of the silly anti-gun arguments with reason (not surprisingly, being published in "Reason Magazine"). The final panel is superb.

Not being the typical cartoon strictly for entertainment, this is somewhat tedious to get all the way through, but Rocky is absolutely correct. It exposes every anti- argument for just what they are.
Not so much pro-gun per se, as it is pro strict-construction of the Constitution. That is exactly how the framers intended the Constitution to be interpreted, not tortured to death by courts that understand, but do not like the literalism of the document.

It's a little too "Crumbesque" for me, and you have to actually pay attention to the words for it to not come off as anti-gun as the "Crumb" comix were.
The words are good though.

i get what its trying to say..but if it played say on tv..the constant sleazy way gun owners are potrayed might
send the opposite message as they SEEM to intend ..
not a good way to sell the gun rights position to a public ..
the general joe watching tv,, isnt known for his long attention span..he may just see gun owners potrayed as the bad guys and switch the channel to some funny commercial that takes about 10 seconds to get a laugh from..the advertisers on tv have figured this out.. thats why they constantly sell product that way.. jmo of the piece..

I read the entire thing;it's prettygood stuff.
I THINK that it ridicules the Anti Gun Stance, but some AntiGunner might think differently.
It's informative, and thought provoking. It's good fuel for debate.

Slim, I agree with you, even reading it as a cartoon, it would be hard to get past the first page. "This 100 year-old derringer is the cutest Li'l killing device I've ever seen." What looks like a real assault rifle that few people would relate to anything a hunter needed, and "it means we have the right to violently overthrow the government if necessary". For all of Hamilton, Madison and Franklin's remarks, we're talking about a group of people that had just overthrown a "no taxation without representation" dictatorship...maybe a little apples and oranges compared to current day in many people's minds?
I'm very pro-gun and can't count them on my fingers/toes, and guarantee you will defend the right to defend my home, my castle and my family. Yesterday was range practice with the home defense shotgun. But "The Right To Own A Bazooka" title, with all of it's satire and historical relevance/examples may be fun, but probably not an opinion swayer? Plus, many do believe the constitution is a "living document" and changes according to the times, thus 200+ year old historical examples may seem obsolete, particularly to people who don't even own a gun.
Very interesting, but suggest he's talking to the choir and not the mugwumps.
