I do not have a lot of RCBS stuff, but when ever I get something of theirs, their directions just slay me..

First off they give you a name for each part and piece...but no photo of the part/piece they have named.

Then they print things like " Insert carefully and rotate the dipthong until it is faced up"...But... I have NO way of knowing which way is up.

Or...
"Install such and such part into such and such part".
Well... good grief.. you don't know what part is what to start with, and then the whole assembly is almost always short a couple of parts that didn't get put in the box.

Now try and explain that on the phone.

"Hello...I'm missing a couple of parts"

..."What part missing?"

"Ummm, I don't know which ones, the total parts just don't add up...so I figure I am missing some".

..."How I know part to send?"

"Good question...How about you read the directions and take a guess...just like I am doing"

Bad technical writing is a pox on the human race, these days. It has been getting worse in the computer age. Too many geeks writing mile-long run-on sentences, and too many people whose first language is not the one they are writing in.

I think your last thought hit the nail in the head there, Nick.
