I don't normally use Hornady bullets so I don't have any load data to go from. I acquired 100 of the 240g .430 XTP HPs and am a little leery of going the similar but not manufacturer data route. I load 44 mag for my Marlin 1894 (Ballard rifling), but mostly a Speer 210g GDHP or 240g hardcast RNFP. W-W case, CCI 300 primers and I use 2400 powder. Lyman's 48th data for the Speer 240g w/ a range of 18.4 - 20.5 grains of 2400 looks like a starting point but I don't have data to make that assumption safe. I tried LoadSwap and came up empty, can anybody help with actual Hornady data?
Thanks,
ASH

I have used that bullet over 24.0 Grains of H110 with great results in both my Ruger Redhawk and Marlin 1894.
The single most important thing with that powder (H110) is you trim your cases to be consistent and give every round a generous roll crimp.

If you go to the Hornady web site and call customer service they will give you load data for that bullet.

DITTO this is the load that I use in both my M92 Rossi and my SBH work well in both of them
I spent three months testing 9 different powders with that particular bullet and was surprised to find that for my S&W Performance Center .44, 15.7 grains of Blue Dot was the most consistent and accurate. That load gave me 1350 fps at 15 feet and 2" at 100 yards. I had a 15" drop from 100 to 150 yards and 31" drop from 100 yards to 200 yards. The best I got at 200 yards was 5.5" (five shots).
The Leupold 2.5 X 8 scope made longer range accuracy possible.

The most tried and true still seems to be the following:
CASE: W-W 44 Mag.
PRIMER: CCI-350 Mag. Pistol
POWDER: Winchester 296 / 24.0gr.
BULLET: Hornady 240 gr. XTP
I shoot and have shot this same exact load out of 10" and 14" T/C Contenders, Marlin Lever Guns, N.E.F. single shot rifles, Virginia Dragoon pistol, Ruger Super Blackhawk and Super Blackhawk, Rossi Lever Actions, Desert Eagle pistols and others....

I will use .44 data to cross check with my .45 Win Mag, and I'm right there with the posters using either 110 or 296 behind a 250 grainer.

I like 2400 it is a very clean burning powder. I load the 240gr XTP with 21.0 grains of 2400, WLP, Winchester or R-P brass. I get 1720 FPS with my Ruger Deerfield @ 10 feet. I get similar results as the above poster with Blue Dot, much better accuracy, but its not quite as clean burning.
