I want to repost this note as a new thread. I need all the help I can get!

I'm interested in getting a Browning 71. I love the action and the looks. A recent article in Rifle says the stock is 5/8 in higher than the 1886 will beat you black and blue. Any truth to this?

My Remington 11-87 is a perfect fit for me, inexpensive or not. I'm hoping for the same in the Browning 71 but have yet to shoot one.

I have shot the Browning 1886 in 26 in. half octagon, and it's a dream to shoot, but bigger than I would likely carry to hunt. The 22 in. is more appealing to hunt with. Any thoughts?

I can't vouch for the exact measurement, but my Browning 71 does not hit me in the cheek. I read the article and was confused about that part.

Welcome to the forum Elkhunter. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

Sorry I can't help with your 71 problem, I'm kinda a bolt guy here. I'm sure some of our lever guys will be able to shed some light on that problem. I know that they sure are a pretty gun. I've got an acquaintance that shoots one of the Browning 95's in 06 and he got his elk a couple of years ago with it iron sights and all.
