ill be hunting n.c. gamelands.. in setting up some still hunt spots,,it would be a lot better if i could take my cane cutter
and kinda knock back twiggs an such..
a wildlife official will be able to see this.. so am i gonna be breaking the law..i hope not,, cause the little saplins an such
are every where..i ll have 100 % more clean shots if i can do this..
ive sure got some deer traffic now..it will stay that way until the first week of rifle season..then good shots will be harder to find..i ll appreciate any ideas and help as to my question..
ps i posted here because the southeast section ,on here doesnt seem to have much activity..

slim 60: Sir; On the 'game lands' some are private property owners that the State has given special privileges. True State property be careful. Some of "our" twigs, branches, weeds are on danger list.
What area are you looking at. I'm from State of Mecklenburg in NC

Man I will tell you ...Pocket pruners! You know like rose gardeners use. You will be surprised how much you can clear away when creating a shooting lane and quietly too! I stalk and prune as I go. It makes me move slow. You will be surprised that at times the deer will stand there wondering what is coming. This works for me on the coast as it is a maximum either sex season due to population so Ido not have to identify the deer. I let the 45-70 do that for me! It's called ground checking. :)
The regs say that plantlife can not be removed not trimmed. Heck the Wildlife resources Commision do not seem to care that they take tractors and bushhogs as well as dozers in to various places to cut paths. We have a lot of protected plant life here too but learn to ID them. They are usually carnivorous plants they care about. If you are in the piedmont or mountains things may be different for you but you will figure it out. By the way, Everyone I know often has a pruner in his pocket. They are great for getting out of briars when you get tangled up. The Game Wardens check us a lot and our liscences and never notice them in a pocket. They do not ask either. I have seen paths cut that you know some one used bush axes and machetes cleared right down to the ground and visible from the roads. Does a Warden sit and wait for the guy walking down it NO! I am sure you will be fine trimming a few sticks and twigs out of your way. I am not telling you to do anything that goes against the law. It just doesn't make sense to worry about cleaning up a shooting lane here or there. Like I said before...Don't go looking like a tree clearing service.

Well, be careful of the bubba hunters there! I live in mt. gilead, nc and I'm telling you I've never seen so much poaching in all my life! Especially on loving hill rd. I've found a couple of places to hunt besides there. But those boys from denton are some real rough customers. I wished I had a private place to go to, but the gamelands is all I have, except when I go home to Tn. after the first of the year. I'm going to hun this weekend using my 45 colt BH in some real thick stuff
