A couple of months back I bought a 336 in .35 Remington and purchased a tang sight for the gun. Last week I took the gun and sight to a gunsmith. All of the part for the sight and the instructions were left at the gun shop. I picked up the gun and brought it home. Well they drilled through the serial number and did NOT follow the directions to use the base so drilling would not be required. Let me know what I should expect from them. THANKS

Not knowing the shop or its reputation, I don't know what to say? I assume you complained? What response did you get? When they drilled through the serial number did they make it impossible to read? If so the gun will be tough for an FFL holder to check in, the gunsmith included. They certainly don't sound very competent.

The matter has been resolved. I spoke with the owner on the telephone. He went and looked at the sight I had installed. He asked me about the gun and I told him. About 40 seconds later he told me there was a new gun in the shop for me and he would install the sight. They took care of the details and I am quite pleased. He apologized and said nothing else except thank you.

Nice to hear about honest businessmen. Glad they resolved it correctly.

One week ago I was fit to be tied and not sure what was going to happen. When I spoke with the owner he was very nice. I decided speaking with the owner of the shop was the way to go. In 2007 it is refreshing to know there are people like him in business. He supervised the installation of the new sight and I feel great. The new gun is nicer than the older one and the wood is about 5x as nice, walnut with cut checkering. When deer season opens I will be in the woods with my new rifle.

I am glad the owner stood by you. I think in cases like this, we should post the name of the business that has done well by us.

There are honest business owners around. They just seem to get harder to find. You were extremely lucky.

Sounds like he has a green employee. Glad to hear it all turned out well in the end.
