I'll pass on the crow....They do eat out of dumpsters in the towns and cities and if the country well they just have to travel a bit to find one. Seems like it would almost be like eating a pigeon.

You're a brave soul Q. Or, you're fishing for some poor sucker to give it a try and report the results? :D
Or is this like the duck recipe, where you wrap in bacon, cook, then unwrap the bacon, eat it, and feed the duck to the dogs?!!

Bears eat the same things crows do.

Sounds like a delightful delicacy...
Kindly share with us the findings upon your pallet when the time comes.
Some folks herein comment on the eating habits of the crow. Yet they eat canned tuna, a gut-bomb-burger from local fast food joint, AND even commercial sausage (as I tell folks, if you really like commercial sausage, then don't go see how they make it).
Over these past many years I've eaten of various critters from the woods and waters, : mountain lion, otter, beaver, hooved critters ('bou, deer, elk, moose, antelope, others), ducks/birds, sea lion, muktuk, whale, ogruk (seal), snake, numerous birds & fish & insects, etc, etc.
In many parts of Alaska, the natives regard ravens as a past ancestor's spirit and do not bother them - I did not bother them either, out of respect for their culture/beliefs.
I usually refrain from pure carrion critters....but would if the need arose. Haven't tried crow though.
Robins (will work for crow or other small birds):
Mix clay and water to make a workable moist mud.
Encase the small bird with the clay/mud mixture, working the mud up under/into, the feathers.
Place/cover in coals of campfire until cooked - all depends on the slow heat temperature used.
Clay mud will cure/dry, and when finished, merely crack the fired hard clay and remove.
Feathers, having been encased with the mud mixture, will freely come away from the meat, while the meat (innards) having been cooked in their own juices, will be ready for a meal.
Add seasonings of your preference...

I hear so many of you complaining about what a crow eats etc. Has anyone had the guts or insanity to eat an Oldsquaw? They have got to be the nastiest smelling creatures on the planet. Decorum prohibits me from fully describing how they smell.

I've smoked some crows before, with 12ga. .223 and 22lr. After smokin um, I usually sun dry them from a pole in the garden so I don't have to smoke any more. When they get in the garden, thats when you got to smoke um.

I suspect that this is the BEST smoked crow any of us will ever see!

i once caught a live crow by hand outside the little market near my house. while i was in the store it flew in stole a package of bear claws and flew up on the roof and perched on the rain gutter. the store owner mentioned that this happened every day so i decided since i could see the bird and it couldnt see me i might try to help(why it never entered his mind to just keep the door closed il never know we live on the coast in oregon it dont get that hot) so i quietly snuck up underneeth the bird where i could still see its feet reached up slows as not to make any noise that might frighten it and grabbed up around where i thought its legs were. im not sure if i cought the crow or if it caught me but those things are onry and they bite realy hard getting smacked with its wings kinda hurt to long story short it chased me back into the store back out of the store and into my truck. i quit going to that store the owner laghes every time i go in there

Well to be honest i never have eaten a crow "yet". Ill try anything and least one time. Just like I tell most people at work who mess with me about being a good ol county boy. "If its got a face ill eat it". Should say try it but hey if you get past the taboo some things are just good.

Worried about what Crows eat???
Look at Domestic chickens.
I have eaten Dove, Quail, Chuckar, Grouse, Pheasant, Woodcock,[yuk] and a few other birds, but never crow....nor would I EVER think of eating it.
survival is one thing, but just as a hunt....nah...
