I don't see an AR 15 section so I'm using the General section. Do any of you guys have any experience good or bad with the Olympic Arms AR 15? I'm considering picking one up tomorrow and have not heard much about them.
Thanks

I have had several and not a bad one in the bunch. They have one of the best guarantees in the firearms industry. Their std. barrels are better then some target barrels.
I have a nat. match that shoots .250 groups at 100 yds. all I did was install a Williams trigger which I could have gotten as a feature when I bought it.

I have a six-year-old Plinker, and it has been an excellent rifle.

I have not got to shoot it yet but I'm looking forward to it. I was reading the owner's manual and saw that it says to limit it to 15 rds per minute to prevent overheating. Have you ever had any issues with yours and have you ever shot the entire 30 rd clip in rapid succession?

i have done the whole 30 and it does heat up the barrel a might.
i have also shot the m-16 in full auto and they heat up a lot faster but thats what they are built for.
but no jams or misfires

Yeah, the owner's manual says it can get hot enough to cause a round to "cook off" on its own while sitting in the chamber if you don't limit it to 15 rds per minute. I guess if you shoot the whole 30 rds and leave the bolt open it will cool enough while you are reloading if you don't use stripper clips for speed reloading. Then again they may just put that disclaimer in for liability purposes.

Rapid fire will heat a rifle up fast, and that's not a problem exclusive to the AR15 or Olympic Arms rifles. I generally don't do much rapid-fire, heavy-volume shooting, but once in a while I'll rip off a full 20-rounder, and I can't detect any real problem from that yet -- but, it does get hot! Cook-off is a potential problem with any hot, closed-bolt rifle, but for that it must get REALLY hot.
