Hello ,
would one of you fine fellas tell me I read yesterday that 454 dies{ especially lee and redding dies }can be used to to load the 460 S&W is this true now I aint no novice I know that the cases in the 460 are longer and that they both are using a .452 bullet . I guess what I really need to know is the 454 dies going to be long enough to resize the brass and should I use a seperate crimp die like I used to use on a 454 that I had. NOw the set that I have is one of those 4 -diesets from hornady. They worked great on the 454 now just wondering is this extra case length going to matter?

Well, I guess no one has tried it.

It would seem to depend on whether the .454 sizer die had enough clearance, so that the brass can go all th way through the sizing ring. That's a question only someone with the dies, and a piece of .460 brass can answer (unless the manufacturer can give a definitive answer).

The seater die can be just adjusted up in the press.

Unfortunately, doesn't look like anyone here has tried it. In theory, it should work.....

Lee die bodies are fairly short, I would think that they would not work. Truth is that age has just about put my .454 on the shelf and I couldn't justify buying a .460.
