I need help in finding assembly dissssembly instruction/assistance for the Stevens pump shotgun model 67L series E. When the gun is fired I have to use the slide release to operated the pump and clear the chamber. Is this the way its supposed to work? Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, that isn't the way it was designed to work. Stevens is part of Savage Arms, I would write or call them and request a manual. Most gun companies will send them out free even for discontinued firearms simply because it reduces liability problems.

I didn't think it was supposed to. The gun was given to my wife when she was single and evidently it was never fired until I tried to many years later
