Has anyone been successful using factory ammunition for this gun? If so which one?

No! It seems to need a slower powder when what factory stuff has. Jim

I agree with Jim and prefer IMR4064 powder. All the best...

I guess it depends on what you mean by "success". I've shot a bunch of different factory loads in mine, and never once had an issue with function of the rifle. Some have been more accurate than others, some more consistent than others in downrange terminal performance, but all worked. The last factory stuff I fed my AG42 was Wolf Gold (reloadable, boxer primed brass case) ammo that had the NNY headstamp. All worked well, accuracy was quite acceptable, but punch for knocking over steel rams at 500meters was not as consistent as I'd have liked.

Last batch imported, as far as I know, was about 12 years ago. I didn't buy one, didn't have the time. Found one a year later on the used rack at a friend's shop. he was selling it as "just another milsurp", because milsurps are not his interest or business. I bought it at the same price the wholsalers were selling them for a year earlier! When he quoted me a price, I almost broke my wrist I was reaching for my wallet so fast.
Mine sees mostly handloads, with 140 grain bullets and IMR-4895.

I'm trying IMR4064 in my AG42B and it works fine (thanx) but something odd is happening. I'm using new remington brass and Sierra 142MK's with both Magnum and LR primers (15 of each).

My first load was 35 grains...2330fps (mag primers)
My second load was 36 grains...2340fps (LR)
Todays load was 37 grains...2350fps (LR)

The o.a.l. is 3 inches. I know thats a little longer than most people make em and I will shorten the next few I cook up, but it's the lack of velocity SPREAD that I find curious?

Is that normal for this powder?
