Well Gentlemen I got my buck today! I went out late (early afternoon) as I combined getting my paycheck and a hunt to save some fuel! Anyway I had just got to where I was going to setup for the afternoon's hunt when I was just about to get settled in I saw some movement to my right and a doe got up from her bed followed closely by a buck- Now you got to understand this is the first buck I've seen in this spot -hunted the last three years here always just does!! Well this nice 4X3 gave me a moving shot-not the best case but since I've been skunked for the last few seasons I wasn't going to let this one go! Hind sight being 20/20 I should have waited 1. So he would stop as all muley's will! 2. I should have let him get to the top of the hill before I shot him-dragging a 300+lb deer up a 55% grade sucks! Well my season is done so now I can concentrate on load development and Pheasants! :D

A buck in hand is worth two in the bush! Congrats.

Congrats on the buck. Looks like a dandy. Any reason you didn't just bone and quarter the deer instead of dragging it? The older and more gimped up I get, the more sense it makes to bone and quarter before moving the animal... :D

sorry bout the drag... :DYou can't take pictures if you cut it up first. I thought that was the idea.

Next time I kill a pig, I'm going to take a picture holding up a backstrap and send it to MikeG!!

Area Hunted is High desert- sandy- I don't like gritty meat! If I was hunting the High Mountains around here you bet it would have been quartered! Cause you don't drag a whole deer up and down the mountains here!
