I know it's a shotgun powder, but I've been using it in the warm 38's I load for several years, and I love it. I won't list the load here (Your Metallurgy May Vary :D ) but it's slightly above the listed +P load, and it's the cleanest thing I've ever shot. I have loaded almost 60K of this load with a Rainier plated 158-grain slug, and I've been known to shoot over 1300 rounds WITHOUT CLEANING the gun, and in fact when I did, it wasn't very dirty. As much as I hate cleaning revolvers, this was a godsend, I've never seen a load that shot so clean.

But with all the changes in powders and the companies that make & distribute them, I'm terrified that Olin will take WST off the market. Tell me it's a popular powder, PLEASE!

I do, kind of by default. I ended up with an eight pound keg of WST and WSF in a trade. Had to find something to use it for! Trouble is, I don't load that much .38 Special. I've also tried it in .45 ACP, it's an OK powder, and the price wa right!

I don't use a lot of Winchester powder, but do have a couple of cans of shotgun powders that mostly end up going thru the handguns.

Lots of shotgun powders work well in revolver loads, I've been using blue dot, red dot and green dot for years in various loads for the 45 long colt, 44 magnum, 41 magnum and 357-38.

Over the years I've bought a couple of reloaders out and just ended up with several different shotgun powders that can be use up well in the handguns.

I use WST for 45 Auto wadcutter loads. Burns very clean, and my 1911 tells me it prefers WST to anything else.

I have been shooting WST for several years in .38 special, .45 auto rim, and .45 ACP. I don't get quite the velocity as from either WSF or 231, but as you said, it is about the cleanest powder I have ever used. I get very consistent metering with it and as a result, have minimal velocity variations and great accuracy. I use it most with .45 ACP and Rainier plated 230 grain bullets and .45 auto rim with 200 grain cast semi-wadcutters. In my opinion, for target shooting it can't be beat. With the ACP, I use 4.7 grains with the 230 plated bullet and get around 760 fps out of a 3.78" barreled Glock 30. I use 5.1 grains with a 200 grain cast bullet in a S&W 625 with 5" barrel to get around 880 fps. I have half a dozen (or more) cans of other suitable pistol powders on my bench that I use from time to time, but always come back to the WST for just plain fun target shooting.

I use WST in .32 S&W Long wadcutter target loads. Good consistent velocity and clean burning. Punches out the ten ring very nicely. Obviously not a high volume user, as the charge weight is quite small, but it is known as a good powder for the .32 S&W Long.

I use it for IDPA loads. (I'm not going for velocity....just 165+ power factor.) Clean....nice recoil. I switched from W231 which I'd used for almost 10 years exclusively.

I shoot with a former NYS pistol champ. He swears by WST for 45. I prefer w-231 - seems to have less snap to its recoil.

My 1911 A1 Springfield likes 5 gr WST w/a H & G type semi wadcutter. Fast accurate and clean.
