Hi guys,
I am in the UK and I have just purchased a second hand Rossi .45 cal underlever '92 (Puma ?) in round barrel stainless steel.
The Regn ID# is SS000015 and I would like some history on this lovely piece of kit.
Can anyone out there help?
Cheers

The Rossi rifles are made in Brazil, and have been making good shooting copies of the Winchester Model 1892 rifles and saddle ring carbines since 1998. The original design was by John Moses Browning, who scaled down his Model 1886 for the pistol cartridges.

I purchased my first Rossi "Puma" carbine , cal .357Mag back in 1978. Unfortunately , the first batch to Australia had out of round chambers. That did nothing for accuracy but they were great guns.
I believe the next calibre made was the .44/40.
Suspect the Stainless carbines have only been manufactured in the last 10 years or less.
I have my 20".44 Magnum, purchased in the early '90's that has accounted for lots of feral pigs and my wife loves her .357 16" shorty.
A few 20" .357's have come and gone over the years.
Why do the Poms refer to the Lever Action rifles as "Underlevers" ? I can understand when discussing Martini Henrys etc - but these are American rifles !

Good question Kirby, I mean I've never seen a top lever rifle!
And Martini's are better described as falling block rifles.

Are you going to cast and reload for this rifle?
I've got one of the Rossi 92s, blued. 24 inch barrel in 45 Colt.
With proper loads it could be considered 45-70 short.
Because i was going to shoot cast bullets only I fire lapped the barrel to good effect.
Have fun you've got a winner there.
