Folks,
Many years ago, I started collecting surplus military arms because they were $10.00 to $20.00 each and that was all a teenager cutting grass could afford. I still have all of them. Then I moved up to sporting rifles and shotguns and gathered in a pile of them. Handguns were not neglected and neither were muzzleloaders. I bought used guns and never spent very much money on any of them. Over several decades, this activity never stopped. I now have way too many guns.

My latest kick is collecting bolt action shotguns. These can be had for next to nothing from the used gun racks at many gun shops. I prefer the Marlin Model 55 which was the basis for their Model 512 slug gun. Last week, I came across one in like-new condition with a factory installed external choke and muzzlebrake for $79.00. Someday, I will sell one gun a week until the collection is eliminated. So what do you folks collect?

I sure love to cruise the used gun shops and pawn shops. I've came across several good buys there and most of the guns in the safe were owned by someone else before I got them.

Don't overlook Savage's bolt action shotgun. It's built on a version of the 110 action and I've seen several buys on them used.

The only new gun in my safe is my old hunting buddies brand new CZ 527 Varmint in 204 Ruger and my sons Rem 700 Classic in 8mm Rem mag. All the rest were shot before then traded or sold.

I have a 55 goose gun I need to make a stock for. I had one years ago and that 36" bbl was the cat's backside for taking down honkers with my handloads. When the steel shot BS passed, I passed on the duck stamps and I sold the 55 to a turkey hunter who has taken numerous birds with it.

I had a Steven's .410 too, think it was the model 38 .... many years ago but I liked that little gun!

Hi folks,

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a Mossberg bolt-action in 20 gauge for upland. Does anyone know roughly how much something like that would weigh?

Thanks,
