Went to the hunting lease this week-end with friends to check out the blinds and shoot some bullets. Sat in a stand Saturday evening and had a few bucks come by. Here's one, nice buck, but he's two points shy. Safe!

Also, friend, Steve Raulerson with a Stevens 200 in 270 Win.
Put a good trigger on them and a 4x-14x scope and its a great rifle for our kind of hunting. Very accurate.

Missed a chance at a big hog this morning. I was busy trying to get pictures and should have just shot the rifle. Missed on both counts.

Got the 6.5/284 shooting great with 120 grain Nosler BT's
Right now, the deer are not coming in to feeders' All of them are heavy on the Oak thickets. Feasting on acorns.
That should change in two weeks.
Good Luck to all.

Those acorns should put some fat on those bucks tpv! That is a nice buck, but another year will do him wonders. Good luck!

Nice pics Tom! We got on a new lease this year but are still in the Breckenridge area. I am taking my boys down for the youth hunt this weekend so we hope this little cold spell might get them moving. It looks like a bumper crop of acorns this year and we haven't seen much coming to the feeders either. I would love to get a nice 60 lb hog to put on the smoker and sure won't turn down a shot at one if it comes in. The next 2 months should be fun regardless. Have a good one and good luck this season to all!

Hey there Pete,
Good luck to you too on the new lease. That's always exciting.
I forgot about the youth week-end. My son said the grandboy was still a little too young to shoot so we'll give him another year. I just left the ranch in Jack County. 90% of the acorns are off the trees now. That North wind knocked most of them off. They should sour within the week laying on the wet ground, so maybe the animals will switch over by the end of the week and start hitting the feeders.
You might try rattling this week-end. Some time before the rut it works on a cold morning. I know the bucks are always willing.

Have a great week-end
Tom
