I'm looking for some 8mm-'06 loads. The Sierra Manual lists loads for 150, 175, and 220gr bullets. I have 150, 185, and 200gr bullets. Anyone have some loads for these?

Welcome to the forum. What kind of bullets? I believe that several of the other bullet manufacters have data - Nosler, maybe - but I'm not in front of my data manuals right now.

rjlucasinc,
I've tried 175's, 185's, and 200 grainers.

The 175's are Sierra's, and I used 53-54 gr IMR 4064 w/CCI 200 primer. Getting 2800-2880 fps from this with good accuracy. I also tried 51.5 gr of IMR 4320 with these with good accuracy, and around 2800 fps.

The 185's are Rem PSP's, and I used 56.0-58.0 gr of Win 760 w/CCI 200 primers. Getting 2600-2800 fps and good accuracy. I tried IMR 4320 with these and it didn't do well.

The 200's are Nosler partitions and I used 50.5 to 51.5 gr of IMR 4064 w/CCI 200 primers. Getting 2650 to 2800 fps with these.

Work your loads up towards these for your rifle as you could get pressure signs before getting the loads I used.

Rifle is a Win Mod 70 pre-64' that I had rebarreled due to a rusted-out '06 barrel.

Back in front of my loading manuals -

Yes, Sierra has data for their 175 and 220s.
Hornady has data for their 150, 170 and 220s.
Nosler had data for their 180 and 200s.

That shoudl be two good sources in addition to your Sierra manual.

Also take a look at the Hodgdon Reloading Data Centre.

I just started loading for my 8mm-06. I have five reloading manuals and they all have different start loads for the same grain bullet. So I started with a load that was closets to the most common start loads listed. Here’s what I used:

Sierra 175 spitzer with 50gr of IMR 4350 -- primer showed that the load was a little under powered. The primers were pushed out a bit. The Chrono showed they were averaging about 2200 fps.

Hornady 150 SP interlock with 50gr of IMR 4064 -- primers were slightly flattened and the firing pin pocket was cratered on some -- a little too hot. The chrono showed they were averaging about 2800 fps.

I backed off .5 gr and the Hornady bullet with 49.5 gr of IMR 4064 chronos at about 2700 fps with no signs of high pressure. Moreover, I shot groups of three under 1 inch at 100 yards.

I must note that with the Hornady 150 gr bullets I had to trim my cases back to 2.464 (about .020) less the max and seated the bullet deeper (to the top of the crimp). I did this after checking for land marks that showed light marks when I had the cases measuring 2.484 with the bullet seated out to the first part of the crimp. I used new Nosler 30-06 brass cases that I expanded up to 8mm using a RCBS FL die with a tapered expander ball.

My rifle is a sporterized 1903 Springfield I bought, oh, about 28 years ago. It was a shot out 30-06 that I rebarreled into 8mm-06 because I wanted something a little different and back then a new barrel installed and blued cost me $140. I use a 6X Tasco scope.

Correction to my last post. The 50grs of IMR 4064 produced 2730 fps not 2800.
