Louisiana opening gun season started in my section of Louisiana this past weekend. I was able to go but could not stay a long time due to my grandsons last soccer game. I got on my stand before daylight and enjoyed watching the woods wake up. Having been a really bright full moon, I did not expect to see any deer in the earliest part of the day. I had to be home by 9am to change and get to the soccer game so about 8am I decided to change the camo on my stand before leaving to go home. I fumbled around for about ten minutes hanging the new camo. I then emptied my rifle and lowered it and my hunting bag to the ground. As I turned around to climb down the ladder I heard something moving right at my stand. I stood there in disbelief and watched a large four point whitetail buck cross the opening in front of my stand. I know I have a lot to look forward to if this is the way the rest of my season is going to go. At least my grandson won his game. (I never thought I would delay a hunting trip to watch soccer. Hopefully one day my grandson will be on the stand with me.) Anyway I had a good tale to tell when I got home.
