I'd like to hear from anybody out there with the Marlin 1894 Cowboy. There is a catalog here and the gun really looks nice. I looked for one of them at a gun show this weekend without success. There is a bit of nostalgia to the gun. Thought it would be nice in .44 Magnum with a Marble Tang Sight on it for deer hunting here in Michigan. Thanks for your help with this request.

Look in the Marlin 1894 forum and there are a slew of threads about them. Most are happy with them, a few have had problems. I like mine a great deal.

I've got one in .44 mag and it is a really nice gun. It's fun to shoot. I use it for varmits around the cabin, target shooting and if I ever get to go deer hunting I have a nice deer rifle.

My hunting buddy has one and loves the thing. I just ordered one in .45 Colt and it should get here this next week. I have a 26" barreled Cowboy in .45-70, however I find it a bit long for my tastes.
Here's mine. This rifle took two deer this year, the first year for being able to use pistol-caliber rifles in Indiana. 24" octagonal barrel. Deer were taken at 60 yards, and 158 yards with 240 gr JSP ammunition

Just picked up one of the 26" 45/70s last week.. It is a bit long but I bought it for long range side matches so it'll be fine.. Hadnt gotten to shoot it yet.. Still waiting on the bullets I ordered a month ago

I have found a 240 grain XTP handload does wonders on whitetail, velocity 1836 by my Chrono. It is my 1894 Marlin that I use for Cowboy action shooting. It has a tang peep sight and if I do my part it will consistantly ring the gong at one hundred yards. It has had an action job done by one of my fellow cowboy shooters.
