View Full Version : 9mm velocities out of a 16 1/2" CX4 Storm
Does anyone have an idea as to what velocities I should expect out of the 16 1/2 inch barrel with 9mm loads? I inherited this gun from a relative a couple of years ago and don't really shoot it. I am wondering if I could use it in some capacity to hunt with and try to get more use out of it. It's a nice gun to shoot at the range. But, I have limited time at the range and when I go, it's really to practice with the guns I hunt with or the guns I carry for personal protection.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum BRL. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
You can figure 25 to 50 feet per second for each additional inch of barrel from published velocity as a rule. Going from a four inch pistol to 16 may well give you a couple hundred fps more.

I get about 125-150 more in the carbine. The fast burning powder really doesn't need the long barrel to burn. I had a marlin camp 45 that was actually a littlew slower out of a carbine using unique
