I was googling one different open sights you can purchase for rifles and I found these "http://www.goshen-hexsite.com/index2.htm"

If anything I recommend reading for fun.

They look promising. Has anyone seen them or used them?

Also, has anyone used the XS Ghost Ring Hunter sights? They look very interesting too but I think the design of the Hex would beat it perhaps? I am not sure.

Thoughts?

I had never heard of that before.

I don't like it.

Just my opinion, mind you, but-

The website says you focus on the target instead of the front sight. That just goes against everything I've ever done, and I don't really see any advantage to doing it.

I don't like the hex shape. The eye supposedly "automatically" centers an object seen through a round opening. Why mess with that?

It looks almost as big as an Aimpoint Micro or Doctor sight (small red dot sights).

It's made of a gee-whiz plastic, and they promote it for use on a carry gun. Plastic sights o cary gun tend to get rubbed on and worn out of shape. When sights change shape, the point of impact changes too.

Other than that....

I see what you are saying. I think the whole "plastic" deal is to go along with glocks and government issued shotguns and such as that seems to be the target audience.

As far as the ghost rings, has anyone had good experiences with them?

Interesting site. I've always followed Finn Aagard's recommendation to just remove the rear peep and use the ghost ring. Works great, was the only site I had on my BLR for many years, also added one onto my SKS. He used his exclusively for dangerous game in Africa for many years and proved it be faster and more accurate than anything else.

Now those I like.
I like peep sights anyway, and like the ghost ring type on fast-handling long guns.
I have XS sights on my Marlin 1894 .41 Mag, and have a Lyman 66 on my 1895 and usually have the aperture removed to make it a ghost ring. I have a Wilson Combat rear ghost ring on a Remington 870 slug/house gun.

I do use a small, adjustable iris aperture on my Highpower match rifle (Zelanak sight), but that's a different animal.

Good to know! I have been looking for an option to replace (at the very minimum) my factory rear site. I just simply do not like it. I feel that there is too much room in that sight and the bead to line everything up to get quick, consistent accuracy.

I have been looking at the Ghost ring setup quite a bit but I saw the hex deal and I just had to pose the question because they are similar in theory but supposedly it is easier to get quicker accuracy with the Hex because of the shape.

You brought up the plastic and that is a concern as well.

Just looking to get some opinions on either sight but it seems that the Ghost ring is largley popular. I dont think many if any have the Hex sights as those seem to be relatively new (within a year or two).

I have a 30.06 and its a solid rifle and I wish to make it my "go-to" open sight when the occasion has a need for it. As it stands, I am wasting more time than I want with the factory sights.

I think the main focus of these sights is for self defense where your options are to either shoot or get shot (although I think the fact that they are made of a plastic would work against you, especially if it gets broke!) Other than that, I think they do work on pretty much the same principle as a ghost ring and I think having the "points" on the hex shape would help one get the front sight to the right height if you focused on the front sight instead of the target as they suggest.
