Anyone know where I could beg, borrow, rent a chamber reamer for this wildcat?

It's a 300 WSM (or 325 WSM) necked up to 358 diameter.

This outfit might have it.

I'm probably going to abandon this project as my barrel is a 358 Win...Savage barrel. Have heard that the Savage barrels were not considered to have enough safety margin by the factory for WSM chamberings.

That's why Savage went to a beefier barrel for the WSM's.

If it's a 110 bases action you can get a new barrel from several folks and just put it on yourself. Try Midway and Brownell's.

yep...already did that. GOt a 358 Win barrel and put it on my 308 Savage bolt. But got to thinking that it would be great to ream out for the wildcat 35-300 WSM.

Apparently Savage engineers think the WSM's need beefier barrels at the threads, and I think I should agree with them.

I wouldnt mind swapping my .325 Savage out to a .358 or .375 just for #%$ and giggles.

You could rechamber to 350RemMag and pick up some useful velocity. Not quite a 35Sambar, but close enough. Savage did use a larger thread diameter for its WSM/RUM chamberings but there are other "narrow" shanked barrel models that haven't made a change ... Ruger MkII, Tikka T3 and WinM70 for example. Pretty sure they all have narrower threads then the Savages ... but I'd have to check to be 100% sure. Might pay to err on the side of caution and do a 350RemMag????
Cheers...

I have several converted Savage strikers in the 6.5WSM through 375WSM. Requires Turning the threads of the small shank out(1.055) and threading to the larger shank barrels. Requires changing the bolt head as well to handle the short Mag case. Older strikers will need a slight mod to except the new bolt face. Without modifying the magazine my wifes 338WSM carries one down and one in the pipe for a two shot.

Savagegunsmithing.com charges $75. for the above and the work is superb!
