Acquired a Ruger(1996-1997)PC(Police Carbine)9 from a local gun store. This is the 9mm version, not the PC4 that is the 40S/W caliber. The gun came with 4-15 round and 1-32 round magazines. The gun is very easy to take apart, clean and reassemble,is built for heavy use and is very accurate out to 50-75 yds. I added some Ruger hi rings and a 3x9x40 scope to help out with "distance" shooting, but the iron sights are very nice. The lady rangemaster who bore sighted it, complimented me on my "cute" little(35") gun!

I've looked at those. Years ago when Ruger came out with the little 44 auto carbine I bought one of those and it was a dandy deer gun out to a hundred yards. With the right bullet that might be also.

What ammo would you recommend?

For hunting deer or deer sized game here's what I'd recommend. I found that in my 44 cast killed better than jacketed. You do have to handload these, but with todays skyrocketing ammo prices it's a good time to consider one of the little Lee Anniversary kits. Payback is getting shorter and shorter.
