I know, its considered minimal for deer but then we don't have 3-400 pound deer in OK. I've a carbine made in 1949 thats a sweet shooter and plan on using it for up close shots.
But then theres the conundrum...I could take a 38/55; 35 Rem; 32HPS; 30/30; 357; 45 LC; 300Sav; or 45/70 levergun. All fine shooters, but I have found a strong liking for the 25 cals.

Having used a .250 Savage and a .257 Roberts a bunch, it would not bother me to use a .25-35. Guessing you would be best off with the heavier round nose bullets, say 117gr? I haven't loaded for the .25-35 but there are folks here who have and can give you good suggestions, or correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck.

Hunted with a .25Rem., which ballistically is the same critter. Isn't a whole lot of power, but it enough for whitetail deer at reasonable/iron sight range (call it 100 yards). Even thought the rem. 141's would allow spitzers (due to the sprial mag. tube) the best bullet was the 117gr. Hornady....it's made to work at those speeds while most of the spitzers are made for much higher vel.
Only 25-35 I onwed and shot was a 10" T/C Contender...and that was a lot of fun, but I never got areound to hunting deer with it...smacked a few varmints with 60gr. and 75gr. bulelts, but no deer hunting.
Keep the range short, use bullets designed for the low vel. of the 25-35, and place the bullet in the right spot...dead deer.

Dr. A has killed a few deer with his new Winchester and I'll take mine out later this week.
