Once had a Contender w/a 12.5" bbl, magnaported, in 375 JDJ and have NEED for an 18" to 20" bbl single shot rifle in that caliber. But since Ruger no longer makes the # 3 much less in 375 Winchester, I wonder if there is an alternate that can be had in that caliber or something that can be rechambered.

Getting an H&R single shot in 375 JDJ is not a problem if you are looking for a rifle in that caliber...

Several custom barrel makers can also make you a 375 JDJ in a rifle length barrel....

Check SSK Industries, as they ( JD Jones) is the oringinator of that cartridge. I'm pretty sure they can give you what you want.

You could locate a used Ruger #3 (in a suitable chamber for re-boring: .22 Hornet, .223, .30-40 Krag, .375 Win) then send it off to Dan Pederson at www.cutrifle.com and have it rebored to .375 JDJ. Possibly SSK Industries can rebore, or at least re-barrel. Myself, I've had Dan do rebore work for me before on the Ruger #3, and am completely satisfied with his work. Have had rebore work in the past, by other craftsman, and re-bore's can be most successful/accurate. I'm presently seeking another suitable Ruger #3 for re-boring to .358 winchester - not actually needed, just would like one in that chambering! There are other folks doing re-bore work, scout the internet for them. Ruger 3's in .45-70 are known for their 'stout' recoil, so might the .375 JDJ be similar? Hope this helps.
