Well fellas I went out and bought the T/C Encore Pro Hunter .50 cal before muzzleloader season opened in VA and got it sighted in...

Opening morning of the hunt I loaded her up and as I was walking to stand I put a cap in. When I went to close it, it wouldn't budge!

I took it back to the house realizing my morning hunt was a no-go and broke open the toolkit. For some reason the locking bolts had seized! I took the barrel off and was pushing on the locking bolts and sure enough the right one snapped right off. (Gun was only about 2 weeks old :( )

Anyways, after it snapped I was able to put the gun back together and close it fine! I figured it was good to go and I could contact T/C later and hunt the rest of the day. I later figured out during my evening hunt that when this piece broke it will no longer allow me to pull the hammer back! haha... who was I fooling with that little buck in front of me! Must be a safety feature.

I called T/C and they told me to send the locking bolts in and they will send me some new ones out free of charge or I could send the whole barrel in and they will fix it free of charge. I would rather not send the barrel in due to the fact that I would still like to use this gun sometime this season.

Can anyone assist me in getting the locking bolts out? I have currently removed the barrel from the gun and removed the extractor.

There is a screw on the bottom of the block piece where the locking bolts are and I have removed that but not 100% sure what it is. I have heard I need to tap out the little pin below the extractor screw hole and that will release the locking bolts and the spring.

Is that correct? Thanks so much in advance.

Sir you are correct! Tap that pin out and remove the locking bolts...

Does T/C have the locking bolts heading your way now? If not, I have a set I can send you until you receive those from T/C....
