Hey everyone I am new to this board. I just purchased a Savage 111. It was a package deal with a scope. Under $350! I am a tight wound person of sorts and I have read review after review and they all led me to savage arms. I want to know if I made a good decision for the 5 or 6 days out of the year that I hunt whitetail in eastern WV. If anyone has any insight please share. Thanks

Welcome to the forum TBone. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
My old shooting partner has been shooting a Savage for lots of years and last year bought one of the package rifles with the accu-trigger to replace his 20 year old one.
He ended up putting a Burris 3 by 9 Accu-plex scope on it simply because he wanted the accu-plex. The scope on it was an inexpensive Simmons and it was fine. He put it on his 22 rimfire rifle which needed a scope
I think you made a good buy and will enjoy the Savage. His shoots right at 1.5 groups at a hundred yards right out of the box. Really pretty good for a 7mm Rem mag.
Let us know how yours does.

Thank yuo for the input. This came with a Bushnell scope and no accutrigger. I opted for that. I really dont like them personally but I think they are a great idea. I purchased a 308 simply because that is what I am use to shooting. Just wanted to clarify what I forgot to include in my first post. Once again thanks for the input!!!!! Now to shoot it in

Should be a good shooting rifle. Every Savage that I have owned or dealt with in the past has turned out to be a good shooter.
You can only shoot as well as you can aim. The scope is your aiming device. Optics are the one area of shooting where you really get what you pay for. I would replace the scope with a better quality one as soon as your budget allows. I prefer Leupold scopes as a good balance of price v quality.
Savage triggers made before the AccuTrigger are adjustable. If you don't know exactly how to do so, you can mess up the safety. Have a good gunsmith adjust your trigger if necessary.
Good luck with this rig.
