A couple years ago I bought a JC higgind model 50 in 30,06. For those who don't know the JC higgins model 50 was and imported FN mauser action barreld and stocked by High standard, and sold by sears.
The one I bought was prety beat up and had been restocked. I took it out and shot and it showed real potential.
So I bought a Timney trigger and had it blued. It shot prety darn good at that point but the stock just did,nt work for me.
So it kinda sat unused in the corner.
Yesterday, I took it to MPI stocks and they are going to build a synthetic stock for it and bed the hole thing paint it dark green with black web.
I should have it back in 6 to 8 weeks. I am going to get a new scope for it too.
Depending on how my finances break, I will get at least a VX2 leupold 2X7. I have 2 already and for 300.00 they are awfully good. But I have a couple 2.5X8s and they might be worth the Xtra hundred.
But If I can swing it, I really want a nikkon monarch gold 1.5X6. Its a 30mm and has a prety big objective.
Clear as a bell and should be real good as far as light goes. Normaly a 600.00 dollar scope, I know where one is for sale for 500.00.
I loaded up a few 150s and 165s today in anticipation of the return of my completed rifle.
I have a real good feeling about this one guys !

Sounds like a keeper to me.

I have Dad's 1917 Remington Enfield and it's a real treasure. Both as sentimental value and as a hunting rifle.

Keep us posted !

very cool!

I love those Mauser actions. Learned to shot with one and they just "seem right".

Very cool! Those Higgins 50's are sleepers. Not many folks know just how good of an action it is.
