I have a friend in Maine. He has purchased a TC Icon. This is his target. I thought I should share this! Not bad out of the box! Jim

Factory loads out of the box, too. Not too shabby.

I guess that is what happens when you have the resources, and they are mated from inception. The bolt is different also. 3 locking lugs, and a recessed bolt face. 60 degree swing. I do see some of the A-bolt in the design, but it is nice and clean. Not to shiney! Jim
Not too shabby for an out-of-the-box rifle and factory fodder! :D

He's a rookie,;) Can't ya tell! Glad to see you Wells. You will like it here. Marshall, the man around here makes some killer Lead bullets. Check out the tabs on top. Load swap would be a great place for any loads you may want to share. No politics, no BS, just hunting and shooting. Jim

Great shooting! I wasn't wild about the Icon's look, but that is some nice wood for a factory gun

Yes I'm a Wood Nut,, You got to look around a bit you'll find some nice wood
the 30 TC Icon , My Take on it thus Far
Less Recoil then a 308 , A smooth Shooter for sure...I'd say a winner!
I here alot of talk the 30 TC was not needed....But everyone talked that same talk with the 204...and look at it now...this 30TC is the Next 204 in comparison

We get steady requests for the TC Icon at work. Haven't been able to get one in yet in my time at this store (about 5 weeks) but I can see why folks want them. Nice shootin'!

Thats a good looking group... The local shop has a few Icons, they are out of my price range, but they are good looking and have a very smooth action.

The .204 is a totally different caliber than the .22s it competes with. Very little difference between the 30 TC and .308. Certainly it is a well thought out and designed round, but I'd personally rather have a .308 due to world-wild ammo availability and a larger volume of hand load data.
Have they expanded the Icon's caliber offerings yet? Originally it was .22-250, .243, .30 TC and .308 if I am not mistaken. Maybe 7-08 too?

The 204 has been fought over the 223 since it came out...I was saying that the 204 was said ...who needs it when you got the 223...Now look at it....
No 7-08

I hear you Wells. But I AM SAYING, who needs the 30 T/C when the .308 is chambered in the same gun. I would not say that about a .204 vs .223, because the .204 is a different animal altogether IMO. Recoil cannot be the issue, because a .308 doesn't kick much anyway. We are talking about a bolt-action hunting rifle here, not a target gun where dozens or hundreds of shots are to be fired. The recoil between the two is not a factor in field applications.
More load data, way more factory load availability (not even close), short action, and the a rep for being naturally super accurate - the .308 has it all. Unless you just want a new and not often seen round (and there's nothing wrong with that) what advantage does the .30 T/C offer?
Also, Hornady and T/C claim that the .30 T/C matches or exceeds .30-06 ballistics. This true in 150 and 165 grain bullets because Hornady uses its "Light Mag" technology in the stock .30 T/C round. Using the same Light Mag technology (an apples to apples comparison), the .30-06 is hotter. The .30-06 is also much better with longer heavier bullets. Anyway, the .30 T/C vs .30-06 marketing tag it is kind of false advertising for those that don't know better. When you compare the .30 T/C to Hornady's .308 Light Mag offerings, you get identical numbers.
If T/C really wanted to make the .30 T/C fly in a big way, they should have offered .22-250, .243, 7mm-08, and .30 T/C. And not offered the rifle in .308. I am surprised, based on the popularity of the .308 that they didn't do this.
