My brother wants to get a gun, but we do not know what calibers we are allowed to shoot in the backyard. I know that we can shoot a 22lr, and that we can't shoot a .30-06.
My dad wants to go to the courthouse to find out, but is there a website or something? Does anyone know the regulations for bucks county?
Thanks for your help!

Every state has a fish and game website. Just do a search for your state game regulations. Most states require a hunter safety course be completed to hunt.
If you live in a rural area where it's safe to shoot in your back yard you still need some kind of protective berm to shoot into. 22 long rifle bullets can bounce a long ways if the hit the ground at a shallow angle.
For practice shooting or target shooting in a back yard you might consider an airgun. There are some very accurate one's being sold today and they are much safer for target practice than a 22 long rifle.

The local township will be able to advise you on what is permitted regarding shooting on your property. Ordinances vary and it is best to get clarity. Take care...

My father-in-law owns a small farm in Bradford County, we shoot everything (centerfires, shotguns, & 22's) all the time, we have a river bank as a backstop....we've never asked permission and nobody has ever bothered us....but then again it's in the middle of nowhere...
