It seems that my kids have never been real partial to turkey. One is soon to be 17, the other is eleven. They both enjoy the mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and all the other stuff. They just don’t care for turkey? Fine!

My oldest suggested steak (not a bad call!). Youngest suggested pheasant (also a good call). My good wife compromised with chicken. Plan is for all the other stuff, just no turkey!

I got home (after the meeting,), and suggested that we just as well go out for pizza! That comment went over real well.

Chicken it is! Don’t forget to vote!

Our place is not a democracy - we eat what the cook prepares!

Well, the first Thanksgiving likely included venison, fish, shellfish, wild turkey, amongst other things. I don't think Turkey would be the only acceptable protein for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

I'm fine with chicken. Just a little surprised that it went that way in my absense. I would have been good with liver and onions as well. Not all that hard to please when it comes to food.

I am enjoying the holiday. I hope all of you are as well.

I'd 'a been happy with venison, but we ended up with chicken...have half of it for leftovers!

We had turkey - and a wild hog ham that I cured, cooked in the oven all night with a glaze.

They were both good!!!!!

Turkey for us this year Cheezywan. Years past had turkey, ham, and both (when the people count supported it!). Either one is just fine with me, as long as there's mashed spuds, stuffing, gravy, and sweet potatos with it. Sometimes, the pie has to wait for the next day. :o

This thread was "off topic" from the start. I have a hunger for seafood myself! My family does not care for it?

I'll eat what the "Skipper" is having :) !

I know I'm late to "the party." But I'm all aboard the TURKEY IS BORING train. Thanksgiving is at my house. We have 2 birds. One roasted and one deep fried. I do all the cooking so I can make what I want. Ham is so much better than turkey! But I'm not sure if pork was on the original menu. Am I out of line to make some grilled venison back straps and tenderloins with a small turkey? Stuffing, mashed potato's and the rest of the regulars would be there. I know I have 330 days to decide but lets hear what you have to say.:D
