Welcome to the forum.

Yes, I'd sure recommend a gunsmith for the installation of a set trigger (if such a critter exists for your Rolling Block).

Something that can go off if you sneeze isn't a good candidate for home gunsmithing, my opinion...

I'll add my welcome to Mikes. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

Here's a book from Cabela's that might be a help.

Mr. Single Shot's GUNSMITHING IDEA BOOK - Frank de Haas. 168 pages. 9" x 7¾". Softbound. Detailed instructions on technique for a variety of gunsmithing projects on antique and modern single shots including: modifying and repairing the Winchesters and Martinis plus various rolling blocks, restoring a boy's rifle, restocking the Ruger #1, working on the FWB and Browning 78, and more.

Gunsmithing Idea Book $21.50

It can be had here.

Any trigger work can render a gun unsafe, but lots of folks do it anyway. Cutting down sear engagement surfaces, changing sear springs to lighter ones, changing sear angles all can result in a trigger that is lighter than stock. I'd get replacement parts to practice on just in case I messed it up and it became unsafe. You can always put the old parts back in.

Seeking a qualified gunsmith is a good option if you don't have much experience working on triggers.
