I need to get a new stock for my Remington Model 700 BDL L/A. Here's the deal. The gun was originally a 30-06 and someone made it into a 300 win Mag and the wooden stock cracked. So if I order up a stock do I order a Mag stock or just a normal stock?
Common sense tells me to get the Mag stock but are the actions built any different? I'm thinking the action is a standard and not mag but not sure how to tell the difference, if there is a difference??
Thanks
Joe

I believe a BDL long action stock would fit just fine. Here's a place you can check though and they sell nice stocks too.

i think the difference is in the barrel contour. the actions are the same, but if i remember right, the magnums have a heavier barrel profile.

monty is absolutely right, the mags have a heavier bbl. but the question is, is the new bbl a rem 300 take off or is it aftermarket?

Watch ebay, you can find BDL stock real cheap if you watch. I have bought two there in LH and don't have $30 in both shipping included and they are in great shape. Ok I cheated, one was close enough I picked it up in person, so no shipping. Still two nice factory walnut stocks for that price was OK in my book. Wanted one so now I need to find a 700Lh with a broken stock and I am all set. Good luck eh?

Boyds is where I get my aftermarket stocks from, I believe a win mag should fit a in a Long Action

Whats your goal? Would you like another bdl stock or just a synthetic stock for huntin with? Usually factory wood is easy to find on e-bay and gun broker and the like. Aftermarket stocks to me are an Item where you get what you pay for. Cheap = cheap. I've heard of problems with some where the stock flex too much and allow the barrel to touch when using bipods. Let us know what your lookin for, never know who has what hiding in the closet.
