I have a 1979 vintage model 94 in 30-30 I put a Williams FP on, and I want to remove the factory rear sight. How is it mounted? Is the whole thing in a dovetail? It's hard to see the way the sight is made. I'd like to remove it without damage so that it can be replaced in the future if need be.
Thanks for the help!

Lots of lookers, but nobody has an answer?

Use a brass or plastic punch and a small hammer and tap it out. Go from left to right or towards the loading gate side.

I assume this is a standard leaf type sight. One end in a dovetail and the other end sitting on a stepped elevator.

Like so... http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=593004&t=11082005

My Win'94 was made in 1972,and appears to have the simplespring steel sight, elevated with a stepped wedge. It is held with a dovetail in the front. The rear portion, with the steps,is just resting on the barrel.
Sorry,I've driven hundres of dovetails, but none lately.I think that they drive out to the left.

Thanks for the help guys. Ken, that is what the sight looks like. It's just the way the edges are rounded at the dovetail end, it's kinda misleading in appearance. Maybe it's just that my eyes are getting old along with the rest of me.
I appreciate the help!
