An old one, but some may not have heard it:

A man was driving his new sports car for the first time, and decided to open it up a little to see what it could do. Oblivious to his speed, the man cruised along until he looked up at his rear view mirror and saw a set of flashing blue lights behind him, closing fast. He pressed the gas pedal to the floor and pulled away, but the police car eventually caught up to him.

With the police car on his tail, the man finally gave up and pulled over to the side of the road. The police officer approached the car and said to the man:

"I came after you because you were driving over the speed limit, but then when you saw me, you tried to outrun me. Look, I probably shouldn't do this, but my shift's almost over, I'm tired and I'd just like to go home. So, if you can come up with an excuse for why you did this that I've never heard before, I might cut you a break."

The man thought for a moment and said:

"About a year ago my wife left me and ran off with a cop. I thought you were him and you were trying to bring her back."

The cop smiled, went back to his car, hit the siren once and pulled away.

I have read before but I thought it was about speeders on my street. Fri we were enjoying lunch and one went down the street(subdivision-posted 25). The road was kinda icy and I saw this pu start into a spin. I have a 20" oak in the front yard and I thought he had it. I was cheering for the oak but 6' was as close as they came. Maybe that will slow him down but I doubt it.

People like that aren't affected unless they wind up in the hospital. Even then, they'd blame the tree... ;)

I live on a 25 MPH no outlet road which has a ratty trailer court at the end. After buying my property I had trouble keeping the mail box up. Seemed to get run over about once a week for a month or so. Finally set a piece of 4" drill stem into 4' of concrete. About 2am Sunday morning we heard car roaring up the road and a crash. We found an Elcamino V'd around the new mail box. He was spinning gravel trying to back away but it was stuck solid.

We ended up having to remove it because it wasn't breakaway setup.

Gee - that's too bad they wouldn't let you leave it up. A couple more crashes like that and you'd never have to worry about losing another mailbox! :D
