Well I got a new 700P in .308. It has the new Remington trigger in it. Honestly I don't like it. It is still has a heavy pull set from the factory even if they advertise it at 40% less but the worst thing is they changed the face of the trigger to a smooth face that just doesn't feel right. Why did Remington really do this? Anyone one else try this trigger system and like it?

How about adjusting it. From what I've read it has the same adjustments as the old Remington trigger. I've seen very few rifles come out of the factory that didn't need the trigger adjusted, be it a Remington, Ruger, Sako or most others including the new Savage accu-trigger.

It takes a 1/16 inch allen wrench to adjust the new X Mark Pro Trigger. My new Rem rifle came with a five pound trigger pull and it was eazy to adjust the trigger pull down to 2 3/4 pounds. The trigger adjustment screw in the back of the trigger is for sear contact--DO NOT MESS WITH IT. The upper screw in front of the trigger adjusts the trigger pull weight. The lower screw is for over travel --If you have not worked on triggers ,take the rifle to a gunsmith.

I have done several 700 trigger jobs. I haven't pulled the action out of the stock to see how to adjust it. If it is like the old one I am golden. I think I am going to put some skate board tape on the face of the trigger. It is just a little to slick for my taste.

I like the face of the old Rem triggers, but have friends that feel the same way you do. Most of them put a wide trigger shoe on it and like that better. You can take it out and put the trigger part in a vice and use a punch to stipple the face and that helps also.

If you adjust it I'd put some clear fingernail polish on the heads of the screws to lock them when you get it where you want it.
