I wondered out to the deer highway at about 1030 this am and caught this little buck sneeking through the woods. He was going to get by me but for some reason I was moving slow enough to see him before he saw me.

I had to get my son to do the work as I am still recovering from my surgery.

Chalk up another for still hunting. It sure is fun to hunt that way, even if you are just stalking your stand for the day. It makes good sense though if you have the time. You have your stand in an area you have scouted and know holds deer so why not sneek in there and get one on the ground.

Yea. I thought he looked a little small in the pics too. He was a respectable deer for here. Somewhere between 115 and 125#. He had the thickest layer of fat I have seen on a deer in a long time. The hocks were not real black. He was definitely more of a bambi than a bam or a bi. Those are the ones that the processor makes a killing on.
