Read about this in Beartooth's tech notes, and being a lousy skinner, and naturally lazy, it seemed like the perfect way to skin my deer. While the instructions in the tech notes are pretty straight forward, does anyone have anything else to add to be helpful? Thanks in advance, Chris

If you don't have a golf ball any rock about the same size works. Be sure and put a tarp under the deer. I've been doing this for several years now and it's quick and easy. there is one down side though, my skinning knife really feels left out now.

Thanks faucettb. I shot a doe with about 7mins. left to the Mich. gun season Fri. night, and I'm giving her a chance to thaw(It was 4deg. fri. nite, and she got a little hard) Anyway she'll be a tasty experiment. :)

Got her done today. Slick as a whistle! Didn't have a rock or golfball, so I improvised with a 2 5/16" trailer ball. Next time I'll tie her a little higher up the tree so the tarp will be easier to slide under the carcus. All in all my new way of skinning a deer!

Do you gut the deer before skinning or after?

From what is posted on the tec notes, gut first, then skin. I had my deer gutted already, before skinning.

RD hit the nail on the head, gut it first. The nice thing about this method is my grand daughters hated skinning and now they love to do it.

I always liked skinning the old fashioned way :)
