Well, I picked up my third one this week. G serial number, so 1950 vintage. That makes 3 so far. I estimate about 80 - 85% condition, and got it for $250.00. It has a vintage Weaver G4 scope on it, and a side mount with 3 holes D&T in the left side of the barrel. I don't like scopes on levers, so I'll probably take it off and put on a Williams FP.
Anyone know if the scope has any value?

I've come to feel it's the best lever action .22 built, in modern times. I have one 39M, one 39A, both built in the '80s, so no crossbolt safety, and no rebounding hammer. Have installed rear receiver mounted aperture sights and front post on both. I agree with you about scopes on levers. Love 'em both!

I don't like scopes on the 39's either. Just installed a Marble tang sight on mine and now it shoots about 3 inches high at 50 yds. How much do I need to raise the front sight?

Brownells catalog tells how much to add or subtract if it's shooting low or high. It's easy to calculate with their formular. They might have it online.

I have Marbles tang sights on two of my 39A's. If you'll call Marbles, they'll send you a shorter stem for the sight, (for free) and you won't have to mess with the front sight..
